How to Install the Flash Player

Flash is a technology developed by Adobe that allows various kinds of audio, video, animation, and interactivity to be streamed to your computer. This tutorial will take you, step-by-step through the process of downloading and installing the Flash Player.

Note If you are not sure if you have the latest Flash Player installed on your computer, you can re-install it without it affecting your system. Further, if you use Internet Explorer and Firefox/Chrome browsers, you will need to install the Flash Player for each one.

The Flash Player is available from Adobe's web site. Before downloading, be sure to close all other browser windows.

  1. Click the Download now button.
  2. If your browser gives you a warning message, follow instructions on the page.
  3. Now, you can click the Install button in the Security Warning dialog box.

Download Manager Install

  1. Adobe will automatically download and install the Download Manager. This is the program that will download the Flash Player installation application.
  2. The Adobe Flash Player Installer window will appear. Click the check box which shows that you have read and agree to the Flash Player License Agreement.
  3. Then click Install. If there are any browsers open, you will be asked to close them in order to continue. Once they are closed, the installation process will begin.

  1. Click DONE once installation is complete to close the window. You can then close the Download Manager window by clicking the Close Download Manager button.

  2. The Install Adobe Flash Player .dmg file will immediately download and open. If using Firefox, you will need to double-click install_flash_player_osx_ub.dmg from the Downloads window.
  3. Double-click Install Adobe Flash Player from within the Flash Player folder.

  1. The Adobe Flash Player Installer window will appear. Click the check box which shows that you have read and agree to the Flash Player License Agreement.
  2. Then click Install. If there are any browsers open, you will be asked to close them in order to continue. Once they are closed, the installation process will begin. Please note: you may be prompted to enter your computer's admin password in order to continue with the installation process.

  1. Click DONE once installation is complete to close the window.

  1. The Downloads window should appear on the screen. Double-click install_flash_player.exe to launch the installation.
  2. Prior to installation, you may receive a warning that you are about to launch an executable file. Click OK to continue.
  3. Now that you have chosen to launch the file, you need to run the installer. Click the Run button.

  1. The Adobe Flash Player Installer window will appear. Click the check box which shows that you have read and agree to the Flash Player License Agreement.
  2. Then click Install. If there are any browsers open, you will be asked to close them. Once they are closed, the installation process will begin.
